My name is Sarah Wallace. I am graduating this semester (WOOOO!) with a degree in Marketing. Believe it or not, this is my third university to be at. I originally started out at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi as a marine biology major. After two weeks or so, I quickly found out that I am deathly terrified of the ocean and all the lovely things in it that can kill you. I changed my degree to Biomedical science in hopes to become a doctor. I spent a year and a half at Texas Woman's University working on my degree before deciding to change to marketing. I loved science, but found it wasn't my passion. Last summer I transferred into UTD because of their amazing business program and have loved it ever since. I have finished all my classes for my degree, but needed two more hours to graduate from here. This class really peaked my interest, so I'm hoping it will be of great use to me.
I'm very much a traveler. I have lived on both the east and west coast of this beautiful country. Originally, I'm from South Carolina (no I don't have a thick southern accent). Ended up moving all the way across the country over a two week journey to the sunniest place on earth, Seattle. After a couple years we ended up moving down to Texas.
Being a marketing person, I am very into media (hints the reason I chose to take this class). Digital media is by far my favorite. I like to know the deeper meanings to things. Finding the hidden meanings and symbolism in the things we watch is a lot of fun. It's interesting to say the least!
My favorite shows are Top Gear (the British version) and Elementary. Something interesting to know about me is that BBC America is on at my house 99% of the time.
How funny about your original intent of marine biology! Life can be so interesting sometimes. I'm glad you found your passion in business and marketing! I'm wondering if you're being sarcastic about Seattle being the sunniest place on earth because from my experience, it seems they've switched weather with us for the past three weeks? ha! Congratulations on graduated (ALMOST)!
ReplyDeleteIt was a big difference from living on the beach in Charleston to living where it rains ALL THE TIME.
DeleteI know! The rain needs to stop ASAP.

ReplyDeleteWhat interests me about your story is that you went to TAMU Corpus Christi. The funny part is my boyfriend started his undergrad at UTD but now he has transferred down to Corpus Christi because he wants to be a marine biologist! So I guess the opposite story of you, but I think it is really great that you found your way to marketing from initially starting off as a science major. I totally agree with you on the ocean though. I am pretty freaked out by it too. I like pools and the shallow end of the ocean, but I could never go surfing or scuba diving!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! UTD is my 3rd college to be at too. I went to Regis University in Denver my freshman year because I wanted to go into nursing, but after realizing how homesick I had become (and how expensive it was) I came back and went to Collin College. Now, having changed my major to Lit Studies, I finally feel content with my school and degree, I am at ease...for now. Sometimes I miss science classes or dissections. :P
ReplyDeleteWow, marine biology to marketing. That probably has to be as different as Seattle to Texas. It sounds like you must have had many good experiences along the way. It's interesting the you are in to British TV. How did that happen?
