Hi, my name is Josh. I am finishing my degree in historical studies and will have 18 hours left after this summer. I started this many years ago but had to take time off because life happened along the way. I live in Allen with my wife, two children, and two dogs.
I like to watch a lot of sports on TV. I used to watch an embarrassing amount of baseball but over time have transitioned more into football. Outside of the games, I tend to watch too much sports media such as ESPN and the NFL Network. I have realized over the past year or so though that most news I see on TV is information that I have previously seen on twitter. It has got to the point where many of these news news shows actually cite twitter as a reference.
Most of the media that I routinely consume has been coming through twitter for the reasons that I mentioned above. I also seem to spend significant time on LinkedIn, which I use more for business purposes. I work for a national physician practice management organization as a physician recruiter and have done so for nearly 13 years now. It's a dynamic industry which also allows me to meet many interesting people from diverse backgrounds. I don't really watch that much television and have transitioned into someone who tends to rely on twitter or even YouTube for media. When I do watch TV though, it tends to be something that has high entertainment and little social value such as Better Call Saul or even Orange is the New Black.
Welcome to the class and congratulations on sticking with it! I wish I were 18 hours away from graduating myself. But to be honest, coming back to school as an adult has been amazing and I'm addicted to learning now. I agree with you — when I intentionally watch TV or go to a movie, it is for pure entertainment. In a movie, I want full-on IMAX RealD 3D with sound that rattles my seat and CGI to taunt my vision every second!
