In << Orange is the
black>>, we can see Prison of woman as a carrier. It’s not just a
narrative corner of society; it is the foundation of human nature. In this
space, there is no country, no nation, no race, no identity, in full bloom here
is that these people should not have their own humanity and expectations. Tenderness
and cruelty are temporary, and you do not expect these people can be friends
after they get out, get out of prison we still in place.
Piper has common humanity such as
selfishness, greed and weakness. I guess people who don’t like her because they
may be unable to accept the real you. It is easy to distinguish between good
and evil but it’s hard to see. After I
watched first episode “I wasn’t ready” that I noticed life in prison is like a
small society. The ruling class
controls piper when she first entered the prison. In the prison, Piper is
uncomfortably taking a shower inside of a women’s prison and one of the inmate
comes up to her and asks her to hurry up. Piper is given new shoes and asked to
strip. Everything to her is new and strange. As all new inmate walks to the
door, most of women glare at piper.
While Piper is waiting for her ID ready, the guards have trouble with
the camera. And Piper noticed them maybe them an unplugged cord should to be
plugged in. And another guard rudely tells her to shut up. We can see under the
ruling class, no matter whether you are white or not, you have no respect. But in
fact female prison is the symbol of women. Use their same-sex relationship, to
highlight the implied metaphor.
Do you find in other situations of ruling class versus subordinate interactions (outside of prison) produce the same results (lack of respect)?
