Blog #6- Rugby Princess

Once upon a time there was a princess named Bliss. Bliss was an only child who grew up in the beautiful land of Byron. She was unlike any other princess. Bliss preferred hiking and rugby over royal social events which required wearing dresses. She would often sneak out of the castle to adventure through the beautiful land of Byron.

Bliss' mother, the Queen, was a beautiful woman. She always wore the trendiest couture gowns and remained current on the latest gossip. Bliss and her mother could not have been more different. Their uncommon interests made the Queen sad and created tension in their relationship. As much as the queen tried to force her interests on Bliss, she would never have it. Bliss was never going to be the daughter the Queen desired. Instead, Bliss would strive to be like a son the King always wanted, or so she thought.

The King was an excellent rugby player. He was part of a league that played several days a week. Bliss never missed a practice or a game. She loved watching him play and eagerly waited for the day that he would let her join him on the field. The King loved his daughter's energy surrounding rugby, but he remained hesitant about letting her play on the field with him. He was concerned about her safety and the fact that she might get injured.

The day came when the King's team was missing a player and they were trying to figure out what to do. "Put me in, Father. I can do it," said Bliss. The King reluctantly agreed to give her a chance. Bliss was so excited, this was her opportunity to prove to her Father that she could play the game and keep up. The game started off like any other and Bliss was doing a great job. Their team was down a few points, so they made a play for Bliss to execute in order for them to win the game.

After the team huddle, Bliss said to herself, "I can do this." Bliss caught the ball and made a run for the goal line. She ran and ran, until all of a sudden she got tackled to the ground.

The King sprints over to her yelling, "Bliss!!!!"
With tears in her eyes Bliss says, "I messed up the game! I ruined it for our team. I wanted you to see that I could do it."

"I don't care about the game, I care about you! Let's get you to the hospital," said the King.

At the hospital, Bliss had a cast put on her leg. The King reached down to hug her, "You did an amazing job today, Bliss.  I'm so proud to call you my daughter!" Bliss' leg eventually healed and she finally realized that her father loved her no matter what. The King, Queen and Bliss all lived happily ever, after.
